Rail service resumed at about 6 p.m. after a two-hour delay while a bomb squad investigated an unattended suitcase on the platform at the Trinity Railway Express Station in Richland Hills, officials said.

The bag was noticed about 4 p.m., said Detective Tye Bell, police spokesman. The station was evacuated and trains were stopped on the tracks as the bomb squad worked.

Joan Hunter, a spokeswoman for the T, said passengers were getting off trains at the TRE’s Bell station where buses from the T picked them up and carried them to the Intermodal Transportation Center in downtown Fort Worth.

Detective Bell reported by phone at about 5:30 p.m. that he was watching from a distance as a bomb squad member in a protective suit used X-ray gear to examine the suitcase.

The bag, tan with a paisley design, was a bit larger than a carry-on suitcase, Bell said.

Hunter reported later that trains resumed service at about 6 p.m., but said there still would be delays as crews worked to get back on schedule.
