RED OAK — Ryan Rodriguez drilled a 19-yard field goal with two seconds left to give Mansfield Summit a 37-35 win over Red Oak at Billy Goodloe Stadium.
Summit (3-4, 3-1 District 15-4A) overcame a late rally by Red Oak (3-4, 1-3) in which the Hawks scored two consecutive touchdowns in under two minutes to take a 35-34 lead.
Before Red Oak’s rally, Summit built a 34-21 lead. Sophomore quarterback Braden Nolen led the team with four touchdown passes and 243 yards. He threw for 145 yards in the second half.
After not playing the first half, running back Jordan Hester gave Summit a second-half boost with 101 rushing yards.
Nolen connected with Johnson Ubani for 20 yards with 42 seconds left in the half to give Summit a 17-13 lead. Nolen also threw a touchdown pass to Kendrick Welsh in the second quarter.
Running back Tristan Flatt and Deonte Williams ran in scores for Red Oak in the first half.
Hunter Gonzalez had an interception for Red Oak in the second quarter.
