CROWLEY — Isaiah Hall compiled 343 total yards, rushed for two touchdowns and passed for two more as Burleson upset Crowley 34-21 on Friday at Eagle Stadium.
Crowley (6-1, 3-1 District 8-4A) saw its regular-season winning streak end at 16 games as Hall lifted Burleson (3-4, 2-2) into playoff contention. The Elks, after losing nine straight district games dating to 2012, have consecutive wins over two district championship contenders.
Burleson scored 34 points off four takeaways and a recovery of a muffed kickoff.
Hall had 166 yards rushing on 40 carries, including a decisive 10-yard touchdown run with 8:24 to play. His second TD pass to Austin Murrell gave Burleson a 34-21 lead with 4:12 to play. Crowley quarterback Matt Marner was sacked twice in the last three plays.
Hall gave Burleson a 21-14 edge with 6:28 left in the third quarter when he scored on a 6-yard run. Crowley’s Marner answered with a 65-yard touchdown pass to Adam Aquirre with 2:57 to play in the third, but turnovers ended two of Crowley’s next three drives.
Aquirre caught a touchdown pass on the game’s third play for a 7-0 Crowley lead.
