Fort Worth South Hills racked up 397 yards en route to defeating Fort Worth Trimble Tech 40-18 on Friday at Clark Stadium.
South Hills (4-3, 1-3 District 7-4A) built a 19-9 lead as the Scorpions scored on three straight possessions in the first half. Tracin Wallace (11 for 19, 210 yards) and Antwan Roberson (four catches, 125 yards) led the passing attack for South Hills. Roberson scored two touchdowns on the night, one on the ground and one in the air.
The game’s first three offensive possessions ended in punts, after which the offensive fireworks were on display. South Hills scored the first two touchdowns, the second of which came on a 94-yard touchdown pass from Wallace to Roberson.
Trimble Tech (2-5, 1-3) had little trouble answering the Scorpions’ offensive charge — at least in the first half. Daylon Tarkington, who rushed for for 168 yards and two touchdowns, led the offense, and Austin Davis contributed 78 passing yards and 40 rushing yards.
The Bulldogs pulled within three points late in the second quarter, using a nine-play, 50-yard drive that was capped by a Tarkington 5-yard run. But that would be as close as Tech would get.
The Scorpions took control of the game early in the second half with two quick TDs and never looked back.
