About the Sharks: Defenseman Dan Boyle will miss the game after leaving Tuesday’s win in St. Louis on a stretcher when he was checked into the boards from behind by Maxim Lapierre. ... The Sharks canceled practice Wednesday because coach Todd McLellan felt Boyle’s injury was physically and emotionally taxing on the team. ... San Jose is seeking a 7-0 start for the second straight season. ... San Jose has a 30-9 goal differential.

About the Stars: Dallas meets an undefeated opponent for the second game in a row after a 3-2 loss at Colorado (6-0) on Tuesday. Jamie Benn, Alex Chiasson and Tyler Seguin have 17 points combined; the rest of the team has 16. ... Seguin has seven points in his last four games.
