Keller ISDDay made betterMandy Leonard, fourth grade teacher at Basswood Elementary School, received $1,000 worth of school supplies from OfficeMax earlier this month as part of the company’s “A Day Made Better” program to alleviate teacher funding for classrooms. Leonard was nominated by Basswood Principal Tony Johnson for her dedication and innovation in the classroom. OfficeMax representatives surprised Leonard in her classroom with a new office chair, the school supplies and a framed certificate. Foundation rallyThe Keller ISD Education Foundation will host a Friends of the Foundation Kick-Off Rally at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 23 in the Rock Gym at the Education Center, 350 Keller Pkwy. All district students can enter the Holiday Card Art Competition. The card will be sent to district staff members, local businesses, state senators, state representatives and many organizations throughout the state. Getting their KicksWilson Middle School Principal Mike Blankenship won $100 for his campus by winning a field goal contest against other seconday feeder school principals at the Northwest school district's Community Night on Oct. 4 at NISD Stadium. Board members, staff, government officials and community members cheered on the Northwest High School football team at the annual event. The Texans played Keller Fossil Ridge in the game.
