Stars at Avalanche

8 tonight, Pepsi Center, Denver

TV: FSSW Radio: KTCK/1310 AM

Records: Stars 2-2-0, 4 points; Avalanche 5-0-0, 10 points

About the Stars: Dallas lost 5-1 at Minnesota on Saturday, giving up a goal just 12 seconds into the game. Dan Ellis had 31 saves in the loss and is expected to start in net again as Kari Lehtonen was put on injured reserve with a lower-body injury and will miss at least the next two games. Goalie Jack Campbell was called up from the Texas Stars over the weekend. Center Tyler Seguin has two goals and four assists in the past three games. Coach Lindy Ruff didn’t make any adjustments to his forward lines or defensive pairings in Monday’s practice.

About the Avalanche: Colorado, which missed the playoffs the past three seasons, is off to its best start since relocating from Quebec 18 years ago. The Avalanche has had outstanding goaltending from Semyon Varlamov (4-0, 1.00 goals-against average) and Jean-Sebastien Giguere (1-0, 0.00), who have allowed only four goals on 171 shots. Colorado is headed by first-year coach and Hall of Fame goaltender Patrick Roy.
