Round Up The Herd With 10-Minute Tex-Mex Chili Recipe {Giveaway}

It's officially chili season in Texas. Once there's just a slight chill in the air, I'm ready to cook up a big pot of chili. 



Unfortunately, I just don't have the foresight to start making up a pot 10 hours in advance. THANKFULLY Wolf Brand Chili to the rescue, especially with their new, thicker and heartier recipe. In less than 10 minutes, you can have a simmering bowl of chili with all your favorite toppings ready to go for the whole family. 

While my husband and I enjoy a little heat in our chili, with two young kids, we have to kick it down a notch. So we create a little chili-making bar and let them create their own bowl of red.

Using all our favorite ingredients like cheese, sour cream (greek yogurt that I like even better), onions, jalapenos, cilantro, crackers, corn chips and tortilla chips, the kids are able to top off each of their bowls with Wolf Brand Chili Mild in less than 10 minutes. And on a busy evening with little time to cook, the kids can create exactly what they want. Not to mention it makes a great opportunity to talk to everyone about their day as the family makes their own masterpiece. 

 


My son really got into chef-mode with his concoction called "Monster Chili." Made with cheese, onions, cliantro, and a lot of crackers, corn chips and sour cream, it was quite the bowl of chili. But it was really good. 


 

For mom and dad, we dial up the flavor and the heat by using Wolf Brand Chili HOT and a few of mom's special touches to create my Tex-Mex Chili. 

 

 

Mom's Tex-Mex Chili

2-3 cans of Wolf Brand Chili Hot
2-3 tablespoons Cojita Mexican Cheese, crumbled
Cilantro, chopped
Onions, chopped
1-2 jalapenos, chopped

Homemade Tortilla Chips
3-4 Flour Tortillas
Cooking Spray

Mom's Avocado Sauce
1-2 avocados
2 tablespoons greek yogurt (or sour cream)
1 teaspoon jalapeno juice (extracted from a jar of picked jalapenos) 

Instructions: 
Warm up chili as directed on can. 

Meanwhile, place oven on broil. Spray a cooking sheet with cooking spray and place 3-4 flour tortillas into triangles (a pizza cutter works best) and then spray lighting with cooking spray. Place in broiler until lighting brown (2-3 minutes) and then flip over to complete the other side. Pull out of the oven and let cool slighly. Optional: You can add seasoning salt for a little extra flavor.

Then in a bowl, mash avocados with greek yogurt and then jalapeno juice. You can also add any of your favorite ingredients like seasoning salt, hot sauce, etc. Mix until blended completed. 

Now dress chili with sauce and toppings. Serve with the tortilla chips.
