EVERMAN — Sophomore running back Kierre Crossley ran for three third-quarter touchdowns that turned a tie game at the half into a rout as Everman rolled past Waco University 44-14 in a District 8-4A game at Marr Stadium.
The Bulldogs (4-2, 2-1 8-4A) outscored University 30-0 in the second half and finished with 290 yards rushing.
Less than a minute into the game, University (1-5, 1-2) struck first, taking a 7-0 lead on a 22-yard run by Jordan Randolph. Everman quickly answered on the ensuing drive when Darrell Parks scored on a 23-yard run to cut the lead to 7-6, but the 2-point conversion attempt failed.
Early in the second quarter, University took a 14-6 lead on Randolph’s 56-yard run down the sideline.
Everman again answered right back. Chris Stafford scored from 11 yards out, and Michael Boone hooked up with Caleb Warren on the 2-point conversion that tied the game at 14 at halftime.
Stafford took the second-half kickoff 68 yards to the Waco University 32, setting up the first of Crossley’s three scores, a 24-yard run to put the Bulldogs up 21-14.
Crossley added scoring runs of 9 and 8 yards as Everman built a 35-14 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Everman rounded out the scoring with a 23-yard field goal by Aroldo Cruz and a 6-yard run by junior running back Jarod Hill.
