Fort Worth Polytechnic defeated Fort Worth North Side 34-14 on Friday night at Scarborough- Handley Field in a hard-fought District 6-4A matchup.
Polytechnic (1-5, 1-3) relied on a potent rushing attack as it pulled away late for the victory.
The Parrots were led by the duo of Fred Carter (10 carries, 143 yards) and Jaylon Williams (17 carries, 136 yards). Carter and Williams combined for five touchdowns and all but four of the Parrots’ total rushing yards.
North Side (0-7, 0-5) was led by Johnny Aviles, who threw for 90 yards and one touchdown. Shawn Aviles led the Steers in rushing with 59 yards on 16 carries.
The Parrots struck first on the first play of their second drive, scoring on an 85-yard sweep by Carter.
They struck again shortly thereafter, this time led by Williams, who scored on a 9-yard run. Williams carried five times on the 64-yard drive.
