NORTH RICHLAND HILLS — Birdville running back Xavier Turner ran for 193 yards and three touchdowns, leading a Hawks rushing game that totaled over 460 yards to a 57-6 victory over Fort Worth Eastern Hills on Thursday night.
The majority of the scoring came in the first half as Birdville (5-2, 3-2 in District 6-4A) built a 28-0 lead after the first quarter, thanks in part to Turner touchdown runs of 2 and 8 yards.
Nearing the end of the quarter, running back Isaiah Duarte found the end zone from 29 yards and quarterback Will Hayward capped the quarter’s scoring with a 28-yard run of his own.
In the second quarter, Hayward, who had 174 yards passing in the first half, found receiver Jake Bransford from 10-yards out, for the 34-0 lead.
Hayward would connect again, finding Duarte for a 54-yard strike and the 40-0 lead. A 62-yard touchdown run from Turner gave the Hawks a 47-0 lead at the half.
For the Highlanders, (2-4, 2-2 District 6-4A), quarterback Antwjuan Strahan finished with over 160 of the team’s 200 total yards, including a 62-yard touchdown run late in the game.
