One person was killed Monday evening in a wreck involving a motorcycle in southbound lanes of Interstate 35W just south of the exit to Alsbury Boulevard, officials said.

The wreck was reported at 7:15 p.m., said Sally Ellertson, a spokeswoman for the city of Burleson.

She said she could learn few details Monday evening, but confirmed there was one fatality.

MedStar spokesman Matt Zavadsky said ambulance crews reported the dead man was in his early 40s and there were no other injuries.

Ellertson said the victim would be identified by the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.

Police, meanwhile, were directing southbound traffic on I35W to exit at Alsbury and get back on the interstate just south of Hidden Creek Parkway.

The detour was expected to last a good while as police investigated the fatality and cleared the wreckage, Ellertson said.
