ALVARADO — Alvarado used time of possession and a strong running game on a windy Friday night at Charles Head Stadium to defeat Decatur 31-27.
Alvarado (3-3) scored on its first possession, driving 54 yards and scoring on a 17-yard run by Adrian Hendrick.
After forcing the Eagles to punt, Alvarado took a 14-0 lead when Indians quarterback Adam Everitt connected with Dylan Lemons on a 5-yard touchdown pass.
Decatur (4-2) answered early in the second quarter when Grayson Muehlstein hit Cain Lowe on a 54-yard touchdown pass.
The Eagles were threatening again later in the quarter, driving inside Indians territory, when Alvarado came up with an interception.
The Indians scored on a 34-yard run by Hendrick in the second quarter, giving him 155 rushing yards in the first half.
Decatur scored late in the third quarter on a 7-yard run by Muehlstein.
Hendrick scored his third touchdown on a 52-yard run early in the fourth quarter.
