A teenage student at the University of Texas at Arlington was badly injured late Wednesday when she fell from the third floor at an off-campus apartment building.

The 17-year-old was attending a party in the 1000 block of UTA Boulevard when she fell about 11 p.m., said Tiara Richard, an Arlington police spokeswoman.

Officers and paramedics determined the student “was critically injured,” Richard said. “She was driven by ambulance to John Peter Smith Hospital.”

Her condition could not be learned late Thursday.

Friends told officers that the student had been “acting unusual,” Richard said.

“Detectives are still talking to witnesses to understand exactly what that means,” Richard said.
