Police hope the public will help identify the man wearing a red hard hat who robbed the BBVA Compass Bank Wednesday in far north Fort Worth.

It happened shortly before 10 a.m. at the bank at 13338 North Freeway. The area is southeast of the I-35W - Westport Parkway intersection just north of Cabela’s.

The man entered the bank and gave a note to a cashier, demanding cash, said Cpl. Tracey Knight, a police spokeswoman, in a news release.

“The suspect did not display a weapon, but acted as if he had a weapon hidden under his shirt,” Knight said. “The suspect exited the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash and no injuries were reported.”

Cashiers said they saw the man enter the passenger side of a gold or tan two-door car with tinted windows that was last seen headed east on Westport Parkway.

They did not see the driver.

The robber is a black man with gold tooth, in his 30s, thinly built, and about 5-feet-10. In addition to the hard hat, he was wearing an orange safety vest, brown work boots and black gloves.

Anyone with information is asked to call robbery detectives at 817-989-3330, 911, or Crime Stoppers at 817-469-8477. Callers can remain anonymous, and they might be eligible for a $1,000 reward.
