Wichita Falls Rider wanted to establish its running game. And it started out by spreading the passes around.

But the Raiders didn’t forget junior receiver Davon Allison, either, as they dismantled White Settlement Brewer 68-14 in a District 5-4A game Thursday at Memorial Stadium.

Allison, who tied former Raider and now NFL receiver David Nelson’s single-game mark with 266 yards in the season opener, is after some more of Nelson’s and Texas Tech star Eric Ward’s numbers. He continued his mission with five catches for 203 yards.

Allison had 184 yards in the opening half, including a 95-yard touchdown for the longest of his big gains this season, and he also had a 68-yard TD run called back.

Rider (4-1, 2-0) built a 20-0 lead with three touchdowns in the first nine minutes. T.J. Vasher, a sophomore, opened with a 14-yard TD catch for his sixth score of the year. Allison followed with a 53-yard score, and Rider reserve Quartez Carter scored the first of his two in the opening half from 34 yards out.

Brewer (3-2, 0-2) got on the board in the second quarter on a 2-yard touchdown run by Christian Gibson.

But then Rider responded with three touchdowns in less than two minutes. Carter scored from the 1, a TD set up by Allison’s 30-yard catch; Cody Taylor caught a 9-yard TD from Chase London; and the flurry was capped by a bomb from the Raiders’ 5 that Allison caught near midfield and ran in for a 95-yard score.

Brewer’s Cody Gentry showed off his breakaway speed in the third quarter with a 72-yard scoring run. He finished with a game-high 95 yards on 15 carries.
