Get Covered: Childrens Medical Center Dallas Hosts Health Fair, Oct. 5

Children’s Medical Center Dallas continues to celebrate its centennial year by hosting its first community Health and Wellness Fair this Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. This free event gives families a chance to get free services needed to get them covered for fall. The day begins with a fun run/walk at 8 a.m. (register at funrun@childrens.com) with additional wellness activities beginning at 10 a.m. 

Services provided at event include: 

· Pediatric flu shots

· Pediatric flu shots

· Sickle cell information

· Asthma management

· Bike helmet fittings

· Scoliosis information

· CHIP and Medicaid application assistance

· Obesity health consequence information

Professionals from Sports Medicine, Child Life and “Get Covered America” will be available to provide families information and answer questions. During the event, Children’s also will give away diapers and wipes courtesy of Kimberly-Clark, food and drinks, backpacks, T-shirts and hand sanitizers. Entertainment during the fair will feature live music, performance by the Sunset High School Bisonettes, cooking demonstrations, face painting, train rides, the Teddy Bear Clinic and the popular Children’s Funnyatrics Clown Troupe. Special guests include former U.S. Rep. Tom McMillen, founder of the National Foundation on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition; U.S. Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson; and Marjorie Petty, regional administrator for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
