PLANO — Luke Alves ran for 163 yards and two touchdowns as Fort Worth Nolan Catholic rolled past winless Plano John Paul II 53-27 on Friday.
Nolan (3-2, 3-0 in TAPPS I-1) displayed a crushing ground game with 401 yards overall. The Vikings didn’t have a turnover or punt until late in the fourth quarter. Fullback David Authier ran for 130 yards on six carries, including the game’s first TD from 66 yards.
Nolan’s defense allowed four first downs in the first half. The Vikings led 34-17 at halftime.
The Cardinals (0-4, 0-1), scored on a 44-yard field goal by Andres Nunez, and quarterback Zach Norris threw TD passes of 75 and 79 yards in the first half.
Nolan, the two-time defending TAPPS state champion, held JP II to minus-27 yards rushing.
