Arlington Lamar’s defense smothered a struggling North Crowley team en route to a comfortable 51-0 win Friday night at Cravens Field.

After forcing a fumble on the first play of the game and securing a safety on North Crowley’s next drive, the Vikings (3-1, 1-0 District 3-5A) didn’t let the Panthers (0-4, 0-1) get into any rhythm at all.

The Lamar defense got even stronger as the game wore on, holding the Panthers to just 162 yards of offense and only 56 yards in the second half. The Vikings recovered three fumbles, snagged an interception and made sure the Panthers’ biggest play of the game was only a 23-yard run.

On offense, Lamar quarterback Shane Buechele threw for 166 yards and two touchdowns on 13-of-20 passing, and he scored the Vikings’ first touchdown with a 13-yard run.
