National Merit semifinalists named for Keller and Northwest

Thirteen area students recently were named semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program.

The Keller school district has 12 Semifinalists with all four high schools represented.

Central High School: Caroline Kung, Joyce Lee, Spencer Robinson and Eric Wang.

Fossil Ridge High School: Laura Gatch and Quan Nguyen.

Keller High School: Charles Crum, Lindsey Faust, Kyle Harper, Stacy Nguyen and Joanne Shin.

Timber Creek High School: Oleksandr Romanyuk.

The Northwest school district has one semifinalist, Brady S. Whitfield from Byron Nelson High School.

Out of about 1.5 million high school juniors who took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test last spring, about 16,000 are named Semifinalists. About half of those go on to become National Merit Scholars, earning thousands of dollars for college.
