Driver killed in downtown Fort Worth wreck

A driver was killed late Saturday in a one-vehicle wreck on Jennings Avenue in downtown, police said.

The name of the victim had not been released as of Sunday afternoon. The motorist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The wreck was reported about 11:15 p.m. Saturday in the 900 block of Jennings Avenue, near City Hall and St. Patrick Cathedral.

Police reported that the driver lost control of the vehicle starting at Interstate 30 and Jennings Avenue, continued north on Jennings and hit a utility pole, a fire hydrant and several vehicles before coming to a stop.

The wreck was still under investigation.
