A man was arrested Friday evening at an Arlington motel after admitting that he fatally shot his wife, police say.

Susan Brown, 59, of Mansfield died at 7:41 p.m., according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.

Brown’s husband, Ricky Lynn Brown, 51, remains in the Arlington Jail facing a murder charge, said Tiara Ellis Richard, an Arlington police spokeswoman.

His bond is set at $100,000.

Police said they were dispatched to the shooting call at 7:40 p.m. in the 1900 block of West Pleasant Ridge Road.

When police arrived, Brown admitted that he had shot the woman, who police learned was his wife.

Police found Brown’s body inside the motel room, Richard said.

Homicide detectives were collecting information Saturday to determine what led to the deadly shooting.
