Prosper pulls away late from Mansfield Lake Ridge

Duke Carter ran for 253 yards and four touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough for Mansfield Lake Ridge, which fell to Prosper 57-42 on Friday night.

Tyler Webb of Prosper returned an interception 22 yards for a touchdown.

Prosper’s Chris Jackson returned a fumble 93 yards for a touchdown, giving the Eagles a 15-0 lead.

Lake Ridge fumbled a handoff, which Jackson picked up and returned for the touchdown.

Lake Ridge (1-2) tied the game early in the second quarter with Carter’s first scoring run and a 5-yard touchdown run by Deondre Jones.

But Prosper went up 29-15 in the last three minutes of the first half when tailback Marquez Houston scored on a 1-yard touchdown run. Houston then caught a 24-yard touchdown pass from backup quarterback Steele Walker.

Lake Ridge held Prosper on its first two possessions of the third quarter.

Carter’s 47-yard touchdown run cut the Lake Ridge deficit to 29-22, but Webb’s interception and a 76-yard touchdown reception by Riley Davis helped Prosper put the game out of reach.

Jett Duffey connected with Isiah Jones on a 5-yard touchdown pass for Lake Ridge.
