GRAPEVINE — Quarterback Kent Myers finished with a game-high 462 total yards to help Sachse (3-0) to a 59-14 victory over Grapevine (0-3) at Mustang-Panther Stadium on Friday night.
Myers was 19 for 26 through the air for 343 yards and added 119 yards on the ground. Myers had six touchdowns, four by the way of his arm and two running.
Leading 23-7 at halftime, Sachse turned the game into a rout by scoring four touchdowns in six plays to take a 52-7 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Myers broke a 43-yard run following a three-and-out for the Mustangs. Then he connected with Bruce Brookins on consecutive pass plays that went for a combined 72 yards and two touchdowns.
Brookins led all receivers with 105 yards, making four receptions, three of which were 24 yards or longer.
The Mustangs’ offense had 378 passing yards and rushing 244 for 622 yards of total offense.
Grapevine was held to 210 total yards..
The Mustangs kept the game close in the opening quarter, trailing 9-7 after Adam Sandy hit Austin Parker for a 24-yard touchdown pass.
Sandy was 17 for 34 for 138 yards and also had a team-high 58 yards on the ground on 16 carries.
