ROCKWALL — Displaying a high-octane offense and a stingy defense, Rockwall-Heath cruised past Richland 56-7 on Friday night at Wilkinson-Sanders Memorial Stadium.
The Hawks (3-0) scored on their first four possessions behind the running and passing of junior quarterback Jordan Hoy.
The lead was extended to 35-0 before Richland (1-2) scored its only touchdown of the game late in the first half.
The Rebels’ score was set up by a 43-yard kickoff return by C.J. Hicks that was enhanced by a 15-yard personal foul penalty that set Richland up at the Heath 44.
A 14-yard blast by Isaiah Johnson moved the ball to the 30, where the drive continued two plays later on a 17-yard run by Richland quarterback Brandon Maine, who capped the drive by throwing a 10-yard scoring strike to Adrien Atoka.
In the second half, Heath continued to roll with a 21-point output.
Alex Solis scored four touchdowns for the Hawks, three on runs. Hoy was 9 of 10 for 121 yards, and his only incomplete pass was the result of a drop. Hoy also scored on a 1-yard run.
Richland’s offense was limited to 100 yards, with 75 rushing.
