Denton quarterbacks Cy Ward and Christian Rodriguez combined to complete 15 of 16 passes for 241 yards to lead the Broncos past Fort Worth Western Hills 63-0 in a nondistrict game Friday at Farrington Field.
Overall, the Broncos (2-1) finished the night with 503 total yards of offense, including 32 rushes for 262 yards. Deavonte Doucet led the way with 90 yards and three scores on 10 carries, and Deontrae Murray, who didn’t get a carry until the second half, finished with nine rushes for 79 yards and a touchdown.
Western Hills (0-3) had two chances to score in the fourth quarter when it moved the ball down to the 12-yard line, but a fumble backed it up and forced a turnover on downs. Their other chance ended with a missed field goal.
Lonnie Hall led Western Hills with 68 yards on 13 carries, and teammate Raekwon Neal added 57 yards on 10 rushes.
Denton scored almost every way in the first half as the Broncos had three rushing touchdowns, a passing touchdown, an interception return and a punt return for scores as they built a 42-0 lead at the half.
Ward completed all nine of his passes in the opening 24 minutes for 98 yards and a 2-yard scoring strike to Ke’von Burris, who also had a 55-yard punt return touchdown.
