BNSF Logistics, a subsidiary of Fort Worth-based Burlington Northern Santa Fe, will move its executive team and two offices from Grapevine to the Lakeside Business District in Flower Mound in November. The company, a third-party logistics provider founded in 2002, will be moving about three miles from its current location at 612 E. Dallas Road in Grapevine, but picking up some extra space. The company currently has about 8,000 square feet of office and 20,000 square feet of warehouse space, said Jim Craig, BNSF Logistics’ chief marketing officer. At its new location, 1600 Lakeside Parkway, the company will have 38,000 square feet, with 12,000 square feet of office space and the remainder in warehouse space, he said.Craig said more space was needed to accommodate recent growth. The local office has about 60 employees, but about 1,000 employees at 30 offices in North America, he said.In December, BNSF Logistics bought two firms, EP-Team in Flower Mound, a privately-held global logistics cargo provider with offices worldwide, and Toronto-based Albacor Shipping, a global project and general cargo provider. The 1,500-acre Lakeside Business District is a development of Exeter Property Group. It is about 99 percent occupied. Flower Mound invested about $25 million in road, water and wastewater infrastructure improvements in the district.“The town is committed to attracting quality corporations like BNSF Logistics and the Lakeside Business District is a perfect match,” said Mark Wood, Flower Mound’s economic development director, in a statement.BNSF Logistics said it offers services that range from single shipment execution to complete network design and operation, spanning parcel, truckload, intermodal and rail. BNSF is owned by Berkshire Hathaway.
