With summer coming to a close, it’s starting to get cool enough to clean out your garage and attic and get rid of your unwanted stuff. The Water Utilities Department and Keep Mansfield Beautiful are giving Mansfield residents the opportunity to dispose of unwanted, bulky items free of charge from 7 a.m.-noon Sept. 28 at R.L. Anderson Stadium, 1015 E. Broad St.

The following items are accepted for free disposal: bulky items (including couches, mattresses and box springs), junk, scrap metal, car batteries, appliances, tree limbs, cooking oil, tires and bicycles.

Please remember to bring a current utility bill or driver’s license to verify Mansfield residency. Staff will be available to help unload your vehicle. Due to the time constraint, we ask that you bag loose trash.

If you have gently used furniture or clothing that you would like to donate prior to the event, please take it to the Wesley Mission Center Thrift Shop, located at 777 N. Walnut Creek Drive.

Businesses and contractors are not allowed to drop off materials at this event. Do not bring any roofing material, pesticides, fertilizers, wet paint, motor oil or any other household hazardous waste. These materials cannot be accepted, you will be asked to take it to the Environmental Collection Center in Fort Worth for free disposal.

To request pick-up assistance (elderly or handicapped only), contact Arianne Shipley by Sept. 27 at (817) 477-2248 or arianne.shipley@mansfield-tx.gov.
