With Keller Central holding a 10-3 lead and Saginaw Boswell on the move with just over two minutes to play, Taylor Robinson intercepted a pass and returned it 45 yards for a touchdown to seal the Chargers’ 17-3 victory Friday night at Boswell High.
The Pioneers had just completed a 23-yard pass to move to their own 42-yard line before the pick by Robinson, who scored the game’s other touchdown via an 18-yard touchdown pass from Jake McClurg late in the third quarter.
Robinson also had an earlier interception that led to a field goal for the Chargers (1-1).
McClurg completed 9 of 22 passes for 102 yards and and also carried 16 times for 71 yards to lead Central’s offense, which tallied 271 yards.
Boswell (0-2), which was held to just 131 yards and seven first downs, was led by Antoine Stevenson with 21 carries for 105 yards. The rest of the team combined for minus-25 yards on eight carries.
Luis Montalvo kicked a 34-yard field goal with 4:21 remaining in the fourth quarter to give the Pioneers their only points and keep hope alive late.
