Daylon Tarkington ran 56 yards with 4.5 seconds to play for the winning touchdown as Fort Worth Trimble Tech held on to win, 29-27, over Dallas White in a nondistrict game at Farrington Field.
Tarkington, a senior, had three of Trimble Tech’s four touchdowns and finished with a game-high 214 yards on 21 carries. Quarterback Austin Davis’ keeper up the middle for the ensuing two-point converision was the crucial difference in the game, because Dallas White was not finished.
On the subsequent kickoff, Jacobii Tisdale ran 70 yards down the sideline for a touchdown as time expired. On the two-point conversion to force overtime, White was called for a false start, pushing his team back five yards. From the 7-yard line, White quarterback Chris Rabroker completed to Tisdale near the front pylon, but he was stopped immediately at the 1-yard line to preserve the Trimble Tech’s win.
Before Tarkington’s TD, overtime seemed likely when Xavier Land caught a 19-yard pass from Rabroker in the back of the end zone with 29.3 seconds left for 21-21. White drove 81 yards in six plays in less than two minutes.
Rabroker was 18 for 20 for 194 yards, but the senior was sacked five times for 31 yards total in losses.
