KENNEDALE — Mansfield Legacy scored 29 consecutive points on the way to beating Kennedale 43-27 on Friday night at Newsom Stadium.
Running back Kijana Amous had 281 yards of total offense and scored four touchdowns to lead the Broncos (2-0).
Within a span of seven plays in the fourth quarter, Amous had a 25-yard touchdown pass and touchdown runs of 72 and 48 yards to bury the Wildcats (0-2).
It wasn’t as if Amous was irrelevant in the first half. The Broncos moved the ball well, but Kennedale forced a pair of turnovers that kept Legacy off the scoreboard.
The Wildcats had a simple game plan: run the ball up the middle with senior fullback Donny Darville and force Legacy to cheat inside the box. Once the bait was set, they sent the speedy Juwan Washington around the edge.
Washington helped Kennedale take a 21-7 lead with a 41-yard touchdown run.
