MANSFIELD — Dallas South Oak Cliff senior quarterback Kenneth Arthur II scored with just 47 seconds left to hand Mansfield Summit its second loss this season, 27-20, Friday at R.L. Anderson Stadium.
Arthur danced around the backfield on the quarterback keeper to scramble for 11 yards and score the game-winning touchdown for the Golden Bears (2-0). He redeemed himself for an earlier fumble lost with less than five minutes left in the game.
Arthur went 14-of-26 for 181 yards.
Summit’s last drive fell short as the Jaguars (0-2) couldn’t convert on fourth down with seven seconds left.
The Jaguars outgained the Golden Bears 366-300. Sophomore quarterback Braden Nolen went 15-of-29 for 184 yards and two interceptions. Senior running back Jordan Hester gained 133 yards on 19 carries.
South Oak Cliff defensive end Marvin Terry scored on a 46-yard fumble recovery late in the first half.
