KENNEDALE — Crowley edged Kennedale 42-41 on Friday night at Wildcat Stadium in a game that went down to the wire.
Crowley senior running back Day’lonzo Freeman led the way, rushing for 316 yards on 27 carries and scoring on runs of 85 and 19 yards.
Kennedale, while falling just short, matched Crowley’s rushing attack with standout performances by Juwan Washington (26 carries, 242 yards) and Donny Darville (18 carries, 81 yards).
Kennedale trailed by a touchdown late in the third quarter, unable to move the ball into Crowley territory.
But the Wildcats converted on fake punt as quarterback Bradon Hull ran for a 67-yard touchdown to put the Wildcats in front.
With 5:38 to play, Donny Darville’s 4-yard scoring run gave Kennedale a 41-35 lead after Hull’s 2-point conversion pass to Washington.
Crowley’s hurry-up attack resulted in a 75-yard scoring drive in under a minute. Quarterback Matt Marner ran 16 yards to cap the drive. Marner earlier had tossed a 25-yard TD to Adam Aguirre.
Kennedale missed a potential winning field goal as time expired.
