Federal officials raided Teskey’s Saddle Shop in Weatherford Wednesday morning and shut down the popular western store until further notice.

Carl Rusnok with the central region for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said officials with ICE and Homeland Security are conducting a criminal investigation, but declined to provide additional details.

He said the Teskey’s store in Fort Worth, Teskey’s Uptown in the West Seventh development, was also under investigation.

An unidentified woman who answered the phone at the Fort Worth store said she did not have any information on the Weatherford raid but that the Fort Worth store was still open.

On its Facebook page, Teskey’s Weatherford store says the investigation centers on a violation of the law dealing with the marking of imported articles.

“It’s unfortunate to hear about the rumors of drugs and tax evasion which are absolutely untrue,” according to a Facebook post at about 3:50 p.m. Wednesday.

Its Facebook page said the store will be open for business as usual on Thursday.

“Due to the ongoing operation and investigation, no further details can be released at this time,” said Rusnok, director of communications for ICE’s central region in Dallas.

He said additional information will be released later this week.

Teskey’s Weatherford location is at 3001 West Interstate 20, near Old Dennis Road. The business is known for selling ranch equipment, home decor, boots and more.
