High school volleyball

The Bowie volleyball team won the Cowtown Classic volleyball tournament Saturday, defeating Fort Worth South Hills 2-0 in the championship game.

The Arlington High volleyball team was runner-up in the New Braunfels Fraulein Volleyfest tournament, which wrapped up play Saturday. The Lady Colts lost in the bracket championship game to Austin Westwood.

Senior middle blocker Jacqueline Vernor and junior outside hitter Lauren Nicks were named to the all-tournament team.

Martin took the championship in the Bronze Bracket of the Fraulein tourney with a victory over New Braunfels.

Lamar was seeded first in their pool in the Northwest ISD Volleyball Classic last weekend, but results for bracket play were not available at press time.

City fall leagues

Registration is underway for fall T-ball, coach-pitch baseball and outdoor soccer youth leagues.

The fee for each is $75, with registration running until Sept. 4. Play in each league begains Sept. 28.

Registration for basketball, cheer and indoor soccer leagues will be held in October and November.
