Knights defeat Tijuana to take PONY 10U World Series

The 10U Keller Knights won the PONY World Series earlier this month in Burleson, defeating Tijuana, Mexico by a 4-1 final.

The tournament included five teams from the U.S. and three international squads.

The Knights won their State and Zone championships along the way to their World Series championship and put together a dominating record of 71-9-1. The Knights were champions in nine tournaments this season and were runners-up in three others.

Timber Creek takes on top programs at Mansfield tourney

The Keller Timber Creek volleyball team was the only program from Keller ISD to compete in the Mansfield ISD Sunrise Rotary Tournament earlier this month, and the Lady Falcons won four games in pool play to rank 13th among the 32 teams taking part from North Texas and elsewhere in the state.

Timber Creek competed in the Championship Bracket after pool play, losing its first game to eventual tournament runner-up Arlington Martin. The Lady Falcons also played El Paso Americas in the bracket.

Registration open for 'Run in the Dark'

Registration is open for the 14th annual Run in the Dark, scheduled for Sept. 21. The event features a 5K run/walk and a one-mile run to benefit at-risk children in the community.

The 2012 Storehouse Cup competition for schools with the most registered entries in the event was won by Eagle Ridge Elementary and Timberview Middle.

This year's route will include a portion on the Alliance Airport runway.
