A Lewisville man was in custoday Sunday after police say he robbed a pharmacy at gunpoint, and was arrested a short time later when a witness provided police with the license plate number of the getaway vehicle, authorities said.

Using the plate number, police tracked Daniel Khan, 22, to the 2800 block of Vista View Drive in Lewisville where he was arrested Sunday morning without incident.

“The public’s help and awareness was instrumental in bringing this suspect to custody,” Flower Mound police Capt. Kurt Labhart said in a news release.

The holdup was reported shortly after 7 a.m. Sunday at the Walgreens at 2050 Long Prairie Road.

The robber approached the pharmacy counter and demanded oxycodone and other drugs, brandishing a silver gun as he made the demand, police said. He fled the store with three bottles of drugs.

As he ran to his vehicle, a witness took notice and provided police with the license plate numbers.

Soon afterward, Flower Mound and Lewisville police went to Khan’s home and arrested him as he was leaving his residence, police said.
