A man was killed late Friday in southwest Fort Worth after he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a utility pole.

Daniel Del Rio, 28, of Fort Worth, died from a head injury at 11:54 p.m., according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner.

Officer Sharron Neal, police spokeswoman, said Del Rio was northbound in the 3900 block of Granbury Road when he lost control of his motorcycle, which began to skid and then crashed into the pole.

Del Rio was the only occupant and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Speed appeared to be a factor, Neal said.

Information was unavailable Saturday on whether Del Rio was wearing a helmet.
