Authorities identify Fort Worth man killed in night of three shootings

County officials have identified a man who was fatally wounded during a shooting late Wednesday.

David Norwood, 44, was pronounced dead about 11:55 p.m. after he was found by officers lying in a parking lot at the Regency Oaks Apartments at 2121 Handley Drive, authorities said.

Norwood died from a gunshot wound to the back, the Tarrant County medical examiners office reported on its website Friday.

The shooting was one of three in a night of gunfire in east-side neighborhoods that left one other person dead and another wounded, police said Thursday.

Homicide detectives said the shootings are not related. No one has been arrested.

On Thursday morning, about four hours after officers were called to the Regency Oaks shooting, patrol officers responded to a shooting call at at the Casa Villa Apartments, 6117 Oakway Lane.

A 39-year-old man was shot in the leg when he answered his door, police said. His wife called 911. The man was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital; his condition was unavailable.

About 30 minutes later, police went to 3735 Millet Ave. and found a man who had been fatally shot, police reports state.

Preliminary reports indicate that the gunman had numerous tattoos.

The Tarrant County medical examiner’s officer identified the victim as Andre Carroll, 30.
