A motorist was killed and three other people were injured Thursday in a head-on collision on U.S. 380, police said.

The victim’s name was not immediately released.

The three people injured were taken to Denton hospitals, but their conditions were not available.

Police responded to the wreck about 6:40 a.m. near Rock Hill Road in northeast Denton.

Police reports state that the motorist was driving a Toyota Scion westbound when he veered into oncoming traffic and slammed into a Chevrolet Suburban.

The occupants of the Suburban were injured.

“It’s too early in the investigation to know what caused him to veer off,” said officer Ryan Grelle, a department spokesman.
