A 30-year-old man faces a murder charge in the shooting last month of two men, one fatally, who had been trying to prevent a fight.

Jodie Jamar Williams of Fort Worth was arrested Tuesday on a murder warrant. He remained held in the Mansfield Jail on Wednesday in connection with the murder case and two unrelated warrants.

Total bail is set at $81,000, jail records show.

The shooting occurred shortly before 5 a.m. July 13 at the Antigua Village Apartments in the 5300 block of East Rosedale Street in Fort Worth.

Homicide Sgt. Cheryl Johnson said the investigation revealed that two groups of people had argued earlier in the evening.

“As the groups began to gather again, the two victims attempted to prevent further violence,” she said.

Williams shot the two men, Johnson said.

David Willis, 28, was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead less than an hour later from multiple gunshot wounds in the abdomen.

The other man, identified in a police report as Michael Hill, 27, survived, Johnson said.

She said investigators will consult with the Tarrant County district attorney’s office to determine what additional charges Williams may face in the second shooting.
