Lamar was ranked 20th in pool play with three wins but played in the Gold Bracket, in which the Lady Vikings were defeated Crawford in the opener and then by Mansfield Legacy in the final game of the consolation round.

Sam Houston was ranked 27th in pool play and competed in the Silver Bracket, losing to Mansfield Lake Ridge and to Cleburne.

The young Seguin volleyball team, under a first-year coach, performed well in pool play, winning six games and ranking sixth. The Lady Cougars dropped a pair of matches, to Southwest Christian and to DeSoto, in the Bronze Bracket.

The tournament featured local programs and Texas powerhouses such as El Paso Franklin and El Paso Eastwood high schools.
