A toddler died Friday evening when she climbed a pool ladder and fell into a backyard swimming pool, police said Monday.

The child was identified as Rylee Tackett, 2, who died at Texas Health Harris Methodist H-E-B. A ruling on her death is pending, authorities said. Her time of death was reported at 8:45 p.m. at the Bedford hospital.

Her mother pulled the child out of the water before firefighters and paramedics arrived Friday, police said.

The incident occurred in the 1100 block of Glenda Drive Friday afternoon.

Police received reports that the child had been left alone for a short period of time in the backyard.

At some point, Rylee climbed the ladder and fell into the water, police said.

Police Lt. David Smith said Monday that the case was being reviewed by the Tarrant County district attorney’s office, but no one had been arrested.

A 12-year-old and a 9-year-old also were at the residence at the time Rylee fell into the water, police said.

Officials with Child Protective Services also are investigating the case.

“The family has no previous history with CPS,” said CPS spokeswoman Marissa Gonzales on Monday. “There are two siblings who are currently staying with relatives while CPS investigates the little girl’s death.”
