Atlanta-based AMC Theaters has leased a former theater in the Eastchase Market shopping center in east Fort Worth and reopened as AMC Eastchase 9.

AMC spokesman Ryan Noonan said the building will be renovated starting in mid-September, with work expected to be done in December. Plush recliners will be added to each theater and concession areas rebuilt.

AMC recently added a bar area to its remodeled AMC Rivercenter 9 in San Antonio, but a decision to do that in Fort Worth hasn’t been made.

The renovations in Fort Worth will be consistent, though, with work AMC is doing to many of its theaters nationwide, he said.

The newly remodeled theaters will be all-digital.

One filing shows the estimated construction costs to be $2.6 million.

The theater will remain open while the work is being done, Noonan said.

The theater was last leased by Carolina Cinemas for a short time after the United Artists chain pulled out.

The theater opened in 1997 as a United Artists theater.
