Fort Worth author Carole Nelson Douglas is a cat person. If her photo on the book jacket isn’t proof enough (she’s cradling a green-eyed black kitty), how about this: The 25th novel (representing the letter “X”) in her Midnight Louie Mystery series, featuring a feline sleuth (a green-eyed black kitty), is out now.

Cat in an Alien X-Ray, like the other Midnight Louie novels, is set in modern-day Las Vegas, and this one has a sci-fi flavor — rumors of UFOs, a proposed new Area 51-type attraction on the Strip and dead bodies dumped in a construction site. Is it alien abductions gone awry or just garden variety Vegas-style murders?

And the humans in the book — regular Temple Barr (Midnight Louie’s roomie), fiance Matt Devine and former sweetie Max Kinsella — are in danger, but never fear, Midnight Louie and his gang of gumshoes are on the case.

The truth is out there, and Midnight Louie is going to figure it all out.
