A former music teacher at Carl E. Schluter Elementary School in Haslet is free on bond after being arrested last week on suspicion of possessing child pornography, officials said.

Adron Willis Ming, 35, of Keller turned himself in at the Tarrant County Jail on Aug. 9, said Officer Sharron Neal, a Fort Worth police spokeswoman.

Schluter Elementary School is in the Northwest school district.

In a news release on Friday, a district spokeswoman said administrators were notified about the investigation on Aug. 6.

“Mr. Ming was immediately placed on administrative leave,” spokeswoman Emily Conklin wrote. “On Aug. 7, the district received notification of his resignation. Northwest ISD is not aware of any incidents or allegations involving students or the school.”

Teachers and staff undergo “thorough state and national background checks, including fingerprinting” when they are hired, according to the statement.

“While rare, should any incident occur, the school district is notified immediately and district officials cooperate fully with all police investigations.”

Asked for more information about the case, Neal said, “The warrant was from our Crimes Against Children Unit detectives for possession of child pornography.” The arrest warrant affidavit that might explain more about the case could not be obtained on Friday.
