Cody Bishop led a potent Cats offense with six RBIs to back a dominating complete-game effort from Cole Stephens as Fort Worth blasted the Edinburg Roadrunners 13-2 Thursday in Game 1 of their ULB Championship Series at LaGrave Field.

Bishop went 5 for 5 with a double and three runs scored, including the game’s opening run in the first inning after a one-out walk.

Logan Brumley went 3 for 4 with a walk and four runs scored, and David Bergin had a two-run homer in the fifth in addition to three walks.

All but one Cats batter reached base, and Fort Worth scored in all but two innings while piling up 14 hits. The Cats scored eight runs off Roadrunners starter Ryan Zimmerman (0-1) in 5 1/3 innings.

Stephens (1-0) had little trouble, allowing just three hits through the first eight innings before the Roadrunners collected four hits while putting two runs across in the ninth. He walked none and struck out six.

Game 2 of the best-of-five series at LaGrave is at 7:05 tonight.
