The Dallas Stars’ headquarters will remain in Frisco now that the Dallas Cowboys are moving there, President and CEO Jim Lites said Wednesday.

In April, the team said it was considering a move closer to downtown Dallas. The Stars have been in Frisco since 2002, when they left Irving.

“One of the things that bothered me was that by moving to Frisco back in the day, we isolated ourselves,” Lites said. “We found ourselves getting less television and radio day in and day out.”

The Stars were based at Valley Ranch from 1992 to 2002, which made it easy for the media to stroll by the hockey rink after leaving the Cowboys’ headquarters. Lites believes the Cowboy effect will return to the Stars in Frisco.

“The media goes where the Cowboys are. That’s just the way it is,” Lites said.
