Project on East Broad Street to close lanes

Road work on East Broad Street between Matlock and Miller roads will require lane closures this week.

Weather permitting, the eastbound lanes will be closed to traffic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday. Drivers will be able to access the main entrance to Methodist Mansfield Medical Center as well as the retail shopping center on the north side of the street. Traffic will be detoured onto southbound Matlock Road, east on Hospital Drive and then north on Miller Road to East Broad Street.

After 3 p.m., one eastbound lane will reopen. The remaining lane will reopen by Aug. 20.

The westbound lanes will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday. Traffic will be detoured onto northbound Miller Road, west on Cannon Drive and then south on Matlock Road to East Broad Street, After 3 p.m., one westbound lane will reopen. The remaining lane will reopen by Aug. 20.


Athletics department hosts fanfest Thursday

Mansfield school district athletics’ seventh annual fanfest takes place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Vernon Newsom Stadium.

The free event showcases high school drumlines, cheerleaders and drill teams and introduces fans to the varsity football teams.

Community members are invited to choose stadium seats, purchase football season tickets, meet the football players and coaches on the field, and enjoy an evening in a pep-rally-like atmosphere.

Free food and T-shirts will be available.
