Cats’ sweep earns homefield for playoff series

David Bergin went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, helping the Cats beat San Angelo 5-4 in the first game of a doubleheader Friday night in San Angelo.

The Cats won the nightcap 4-2.

The victory guarantees the Cats homefield advantage when the United League best-of-five championship series begins on Thursday.

Cody Bishop, Daniel Meeley and Chris Christopoulous each had two hits in the opener.

With the score 2-2 going into the fifth inning, the Cats scored two runs in the fifth as Greg Bachman and Christopoulous each had RBI singles.

Bergin’s RBI single in the sixth inning proved to be the winning run.

In the second game, the Cats scored twice in the third. Bachman had a run-scoring single.
